José Ibáñez joined forces with Antonio Tapia to create the company Ibáñez y Tapia on 19 May 1835. Under the management of M. Richard, a Frenchman who had previously worked in Turin, they decided on the manufacture of fine white hand-painted chinaware. They also began the first trials using printing and polychromatic techniques.
Some of the most outstanding pieces from this period are lamps and candelabras in the shape of a castle, and a set of tableware decorated using a green-grey tone showing a couple dancing the typically Galician ‘muñeira’. From the same period are a series of beautiful plaques showing mythological and religious themes, and excellent dressing table pieces.
