Collection with relief

Shapes in relief are typical of the Castro de Samoedo plant, with a wide variety having been produced over the years, inspired by organic or architectural elements.

The Cuncha shape was inspired by the scallop shell, related in the classical world to the birth of Venus, the goddess of beauty who rises from the sea.

Later, in the ninth century AD, it appeared as a symbol of pilgrimage to the tomb of St. James the Elder. The origins of this tradition are found in a legend connected with the village of Bouzas, in the estuary of Vigo, and it was definitively consecrated as such in the twelfth century.

The Portomarínica shape is inspired by the corbels (projections jutting out of walls to support structures above them) in the church of San Juan de Portomarín, situated at the point where the ‘French Way’ to Santiago de Compostela crosses the River Miño. Its great architectural value saved it from being lost when the river was flooded to make a dam in the 1960’s.

The Peixes shape is inspired by animal motifs, and is presented in two versions: white, emphasising the purity of our porcelain, and blue, which makes the decoration in relief stand out especially well.

The F - 73 shape is inspired by plant elements.
