Although the Sargadelos Group has trodden other paths, maintaining its identification with its origins, some shapes, such as those of the Magdalena tableware, still have a modern appearance that distinguishes them in design circles. In fact, the rectangular tray that accompanies this set is a modern design by Bibiana Bertoa, a student at the University School of Industrial Design of Ferrol.
In turn, the Cil and María shapes were designed directly on the potter’s wheel, with the exception of their handles and spouts. The first is cylindrical in shape, while the second is conical.
The Pomba shape was modelled with the clear intention of replacing the traditional handle with an equally functional addition, even if it is not easily assimilated. This addition has all of the characteristics of resistance and semantics that can be found in the finest traditional handles.
The tableware in the Magdalena shape and the Pomba, Cil and María coffee sets were studied between 1963-64 in Magdalena (Argentina), when the Laboratorio de Formas was still not operating in Galicia, and attempted to give shape to its ideas in exile.
