Our ceramics use kaolin taken from the old mines in the district of Sargadelos, in the northern part of Lugo known as ‘A Mariña’. It is a material of proven quality, which we treat at the highest temperature possible, leading to an exceptional porcelain that is vitrified in a reducing atmosphere at a temperature of more than 1400ºC.
The decorated surface has a layer of varnish or glaze applied, making it glossy in appearance and smooth to the touch. The shapes of the decorations are preferably added by airbrushing the colour over stencils, by stamping, or even decorating some special models by hand.
This collection has the following shapes:
- Portomarínico. Inspired by the corbels of the church of San Xoán de Portomarín, in pure and delightful Romanesque style.
- Martiño. Recreates the decoration on a capital of the main façade of the Romanesque church of San Martiño de Mondoñedo, in northern Lugo.
- Monférico. Based on the singular Baroque façade of the Monastery of Monfero, a mountainous area close to Pontedeume in A Coruña.
- Toxo Color. This was designed based on the geometric floral decorations the landscape artist Bello Piñeiro painted in the Casino of Ferrol.
- V/2 is a decoration that emphasises cobalt blue, a ceramic colour par excellence and the emblem of Sargadelos.
- Vilar de Donas includes the ornamental motifs included in the ironwork on the doors of the mediaeval monastery close to the Way of St. James.
- L/1. Inspired by the motifs carved in wood seen on the balconies of our traditional houses.
